ILOILO City – A graduate of Central Philippine University (CPU) landed in the Top 10 of the recent licensure examination for physicians administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
PRC announced the results yesterday afternoon.
Dominique Ariel Bingcang Tomampos of CPU ranked No. 10 with a rating of 85.92 percent.
A total of 813 out of 1,317 passed the licensure exam administered in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu, and Zamboanga.
Tomampos’ success came just days after two Iloilo students made it to the Top 10 of the licensure exam for pharmacists – University of San Agustin graduates Stella Rowse Gustilo (Top 4) and Jea Belle Anuales Jinon (Top 6).
Karl Emmanuel Cuerva Mercader of the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta-Las Piñas topped the licensure examination for physicians with a rating of 88.58 percent.
CPU and two other Iloilo medical schools produced a total of 44 new physicians.
Eighteen graduates of CPU’s College of Medicine took the exam; 16 passed for the school’s overall exam passing performance rating of 88.89 percent.
Iloilo Doctors College of Medicine produced 15 new doctors out of 16 examinees, for the school’s overall exam passing performance rating of 93.75 percent.
On the other hand, West Visayas State University – College of Medicine produced 13 new doctors out of 16 who took the exam. It had an overall exam passing performance rating of 81.25 percent.
The eight other examinees with the highest ratings were:
* No. 2 – Alvin Lester Samson Villas of the Our Lady of Fatima University -Valenzuela (87.17 percent)
* No. 3 – Nigel Gerome Castro Cunanan of the University of the East – Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (87.08 percent)
* No. 4 – Maude Sang-an Tabigue of Southwestern University – Matias H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine (87 percent)
* No. 5 – Diane Katherine Rodriguez Salazar-Paras of the University of the Philippines – Manila (86.75 percent)
* No. 6 – John Vincent Loyola Severino of the University of the Philippines – Manila (86.58 percent)
* No. 7 – Kevin Agustin Arao of the University of Santo Tomas and Mina Liza Daluyen Cariño of the Our Lady of Fatima University – Valenzuela (86.17 percent)
* No. 8 – Clint Christian Tan Garbanzos of Saint Luke’s College of Medicine (86.08 percent), and
* No. 9 – Aizel Jane Chua Lim of Our Lady of Fatima University – Valenzuela (86 percent).
The Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation topped the schools with 88.20 percent passing rate.
According to PRC, from March 23 to March 24, 2017 the registration for the issuance of the Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will be done on-line (www.prc.gov.ph and follow instructions for initial registration).
Those who will register are required to bring the following: Notice of admission, duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, two pieces passport size pictures (colored with white background and complete name tag) and two sets of documentary stamps.
Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.
The date and venue for the oathtaking ceremony of the new successful examinees will be announced later, said PRC./PN
