CPU sepak takraw team wins gold, bronze in Capiz

ILOILO City – The Central Philippine University Golden Lions’ sepak takraw team took home a gold and a bronze medal in the 1st Hinugyaw Sepak Takraw Invitational Tournament recently in Cuartero, Capiz.

The Golden Lions’ Team B of Hiros John Jalandoni, Steven Togle, Paul Germae Oñate, Javeheart Aquino and Mathius Phillippe Suay captured the gold medal.

The Golden Lions’ Team A of Jay-ar Galia, EJ Pareja, Baron Cabual, Christian Dave Catague, and Jose Glenn Cudo, meanwhile, bagged the bronze medal.

Also participating from the Golden Lions’ sepak takraw crew were Keith Dune Gallos, Rex Pedutem and Kim Libradirado who made up Team C.

“Before we step in to the court, I always remind them that we are a Christian university and that we represent not only our school; we also represent God. Spectators or no spectators, we should always bring out our A game,” said coach Keith Dune Gallos.

He added: “Win or lose, we always pray and thank the Lord. And we are very grateful for our win…we dedicate it to God.”

The 1st Hinugway Invitational Sepak Takraw Tournament was spearheaded by the local government of Cuartero, Capiz in celebration of their founding anniversary.

Around 10 teams all over Panay participated the tournament./PN
