MANILA – Ceres-Negros FC hardly broke a sweat as it cruised to a 13-0 annihilation of Global Makati FC in the 2019 Philippines Football League at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa, Batangas.

Bienvenido Marañon spearheaded the attack for the Busmen with four goals.

Mike Ott and Robert Lopez Mendy had three conversions each while Stephan Schock, Takashi Odawara and James Younghusband drained one each.

After failing to score in the first 20 minutes on Wednesday night, the Negros Occidental-based team came up with consecutive points from Marañon (20’), Schrock (25’) and Lopez Mendy (30’) for a quick 3-0 advantage.

The Busmen continued to test the Global Makati’s defense as Ott knocked down two straight conversions at the 40th and 45th minute.

The advantage grew to 5-0 at the half.

The lead grew further for Ceres-Negros in the second half with Marañon (80’ and 88’) and Lopez Mendy (56’ and 79’) firing two goals each, while Ott (65’), Odawara (51’)  and Younghusband (88’) adding one each.

“We just focus every game,” said Ott. “We want to go in and prepare ourselves and do our best and that’s what I think everyone did today. Everybody wanted to play, have fun, work hard, and that’s the result.”

With the victory, the defending champions Ceres-Negros hiked its record to 40 points on 13 wins and a draw, while Global Makati is at last place with four points; it suffered its 10th defeat as against one win and a draw./PN
