BACOLOD City – A new officer-in-charge (OIC) is taking over the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo).
Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil Jr. from Camp Crame is sitting as Nocppo OIC starting today, Senior Superintendent Rolando Miranda disclosed in a radio interview on Saturday.
Miranda, acting regional chief directorial staff of the Police Regional Office 18, served as Nocppo’s “caretaker” on the order of Chief Superintendent Renato Gumban, regional police director.
The top position at the Nocppo was left vacant after Senior Superintendent William Señoron was relieved over allegations that he received protection money from a drug group. Señoron was transferred to Camp Crame.
On Sunday, Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, regional police spokesperson, confirmed Castil’s reassignment order from Camp Crame. She said it was “effective April 1.”
According to Miranda, Castil is from the Philippine National Police’s Anti-Kidnapping Group.
Castil, a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Class of 1993, was once assigned as a Special Action Force police commissioned officer in Negros in 1995.
In another radio interview, Miranda said Camp Crame will recommend five officers from among whom Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. may choose the next Nocppo director.
Marañon said he has not yet received any recommendation for the next Nocppo chief.
The governor also said he was disappointed that Señoron was relieved over his alleged involvement in drugs when many believe the claims of drug suspect Ricky Serenio were not true./PN
