MANILA – Creamline Cool Smashers remained undefeated in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference after a 25-22, 27-25, 25-14 win over BanKo-Perlas Lady Spikers at the San Juan Arena.

Jessica Galanza posted triple-double 14 points, 14 excellent digs and 16 excellent receptions while Michelle Gumabao and Rosemarie Vargas had 12 markers each.

The Cool Smashers improved to 15-0 slate.

Kyle Negrito dished out 17 excellent sets on top of six markers while Kyla Atienza collected 28 excellent digs for the Cool Smashers, which played minus veterans Alyssa Valdez and Julia Morado.

After a close first set win, the Cool Smashers were threatened in the second set. They were down 9-16 before mounting a huge run for a 21-all score.

The set was tied for the last time at 25-all before Gumabao scored back-to-back hits.

The Cool Smashers then built on that close second win. It mounted a sizable cushion in the decisive third frame, then shifted to cruise control en route to a straight-set victory.

Nicole Tiamzon had double-double 12 points and 10 excellent digs while Suzanne Roces added 10 markers as the Lady Spikers saw their four-game winning streak come to a halt for a 10-6 card.

Meanwhile, Petro Gazz Angels solidified its hold on the second spot in the standings with a 25-20, 25-11, 25-16 sweep over also-ran Bali Pure Water Defenders. Jovielyn Prado and Jonah Sabete had 12 each for the Angels./PN
