ILOILO City – Crime incidents in this city during the first week of November significantly decreased by 55 percent compared to the same period last year.
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) recorded a total of only 34 crime incidents from Nov. 3 to 9, 2017 compared to 76 incidents from Nov. 4 to 10, 2016.
Superintendent Rogen Morales, ICPO deputy director for administration, operation and intelligence division, said the decrease in crime incidents was due to maximum police visibility.
“Our policemen have 12 hours duty now,” he revealed.
ICPO director Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas wanted to deploy policemen to different areas for longer hours to prevent the occurrence of crimes.
Policemen conducted 30 checkpoint operations and arrested four wanted persons on the first week of November.
They also carried out anti-illegal gambling operations resulting to the arrest of one person and confiscation of several pieces of “bookies” cotejos (bet slips) and P2,320. (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
