MANILA – College of St. Benilde Blazers snapped its losing run in the NCAA Season 92 men’s basketball. It posted a 74-66 win over Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers at the San Juan Arena.


Justin Gutang tallied 14 points and eight rebounds while Carlo Young chipped in 13 markers.

The Blazers halted its three-game losing run to improve to 5-3 win-loss record.


Holding to a two-point edge with over seven minutes remaining in the game, the Blazers went on a 10-0 scoring run behind Young, Kendrix Belgica and Unique Naboa for a double-digit spread.


The Heavy Bombers tried its best to rally back but the Blazers countered with its own baskets until Gutang iced the victory for his squad with free throws.

“To be honest, we’re really struggling and haven’t been playing well sa practice. We are a bit demoralized and we needed to get some confidence back,” said Blazers assistant coach Charles Tiu, who called the shots in lieu of suspended Tyrone Tang.

Agem Miranda finished with 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists as the Heavy Bombers ended its first round of eliminations with 3-6 win-loss slate.


Meanwhile, San Sebastian College-Recoletos Golden Stags stretched its streak to three wins in a row via a 86-65 domination of Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals.


Alvin Capobres was at the forefront of the attack with 20 points and seven rebounds while Allyn Bulanadi and Rommel Calahat added 14 and 12 markers, respectively. With the win, the Stags improved to 5-3 record./PN
