MANILA – Scoring 25-16, 22-25, 25-18, 23-25, 15-10, Motolite Power Builders survived a tough stand by the PacificTown-Army Lady Troopers in the 2019 PVL Open Conference at the San Juan Arena.

Myla Pablo tallied 24 points, including 23 attacks on Sunday night.

Maria Lina Molde had 19 markers while Diana Carlos had triple-double 14 points, 17 excellent digs and 10 excellent receptions.

From a seesaw battle early in the fifth set, the Power Builders surged to a 12-8 advantage on an off-the-block hit by Pablo.

The Lady Troopers made its last push and was able to come to come to within 10-13.
The Power Builders, however, did not allow the Lady Troopers to come even closer as back-to-back off-the-block attacks from Molde clinched the victory for the streaking Motolite.

“A win is a win but we were once struggling. What I can say is that my team Motolite played well. They followed instructions,” Power Builder head coach Godfrey Okumu said.

As the Lady Troopers dropped to 2-2 card, Guimarasnon Jovelyn Gonzaga poured in 19 markers off of 17 attacks and a couple of blocks, while Honey Royce Tubino added 16 points.

Meanwhile, Petro Gazz Angels cruised to its second consecutive win after sweeping Philippine Air Force Lady Jet Spikers, 25-16, 25-20, 25-23.  Cherry Nunag and Jovielyn Prado had 10 points each for the Angels./PN
