MANILA – Sen. Leila de Lima said justice has become “illusory” for her, following the allegations linking her to the illegal drug trade.
“Justice is now illusory for me. Justice has become elusive for me in the same manner that many have found it so in this country,” de Lima said on Friday in a human rights forum at Miriam College, Quezon City.
De Lima said she doubts if justice will still be served, and tagged Justice secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II as a “master of fakery.”
“Why file all those complaints to the DOJ [Department of Justice] when the master of the fakery is now the head of the institute?” de Lima asked.
De Lima also belied the allegations of President Rodrigo Duterte who said that the senator’s election opened the portals of the government to narco-politics.
“We have been plagued by this drug menace but we are far from being a narco-state,” De Lima said.
She explained that the drug problem of the country is not a reason to justify the alleged extrajudicial killings.
“It is not an acceptable reason for me that killings are unnecessary evil,” she said.
The senator added that Duterte is bent on destroying her at all costs.
“He (Duterte) is becoming too personal, using and abusing and misusing the state apparatus for his insidious end of destroying me at all costs,” she said. (ABS-CBN News)
