BACOLOD City – Executive Assistant Samuel Montoyo Sr. is determined to file charges against Barangay 4 village chief Freddie Vargas for the latter’s failure to participate in this year’s Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) at the Bacolod City Government Center.
Montoyo, also a member of the city’s Anti-Red Tape Act Core Team, said he is preparing evidences against Vargas.
He added that two residents from Barangay 4 came to him complaining that they were inconvenienced processing their applications due to their village’s nonparticipation in BOSS.
The affidavits of the residents are being prepared, Montoyo added.
The executive aide also stressed that he will file a complaint for disobedience against Vargas at the Office of the President.
BOSS is the local government’s scheme to make easier and faster the processing of business permit applications in the city. It operated from Jan. 3 to Feb. 28.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia issued on Dec. 19 last year Executive Order No. 37, directing all barangays in Bacolod to participate in BOSS.
Local government departments and agencies also took part in the scheme, which is also aimed at “reducing the bureaucratic red tape,” Leonardia has said, citing Republic Act 9485, or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007.
A total of 19,007 businesses registered through the BOSS this year – a 10.80-percent increase from the 17,154 in the same period last year – according to Permits and Licensing Division head Stella Rose Rayos./PN
