Demand for civil registry docs increases in 2017

KALIBO, Aklan – Demands for civil registry documents at Kalibo Serbilis Center increased 2 percent in 2017, based on the records of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Total requested documents generated last year reached 125,587, higher by 2,560 copies compared to 123,027 in 2016.

This translates to an average of 476 requests per day, according to the PSA.

Birth certificate was the most requested document with 92,731 transactions, followed by marriage certificate with 14,706, Certificate of No Marriage Record (Cenomar) with 14,489, and death certificate with 3,661.

The month of May has the most number of transactions with 14,477, translating to an average of 663 requests per day.

Months of March and June with 13, 564 and 12, 094, respectively, followed.

The least transaction was recorded in December with 6,139 and November with 8,361.

Provincial Statistics Officer Antonet Catubuan said most requested documents are to be used in school transactions, employment, to travel abroad, claiming for benefits, and marriage.

On the other hand, documents received for electronic endorsements went up 6.46 percent from 4,291 in 2016 to 4,568 in 2017.

Electronic endorsement is a decentralized and online transmittal of civil registry documents to PSA to expedite the releasing of authentic copy of this document.

This is applicable for newly-registered documents at the registrar’s office or Shari’a Courts (in case of Muslim), and those which was previously registered but there is no available record at PSA. (With PSA Aklan/PN)
