ILOILO City – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 6, through its Regional Public Affairs Office (RPAO), has organized the DENR 6 Press Corps.
The formation of the press corps is an answer to the need for wider news coverage of the Environment department’s stricter implementation of laws under the leadership of Secretary Roy Cimatu.
On Dec. 12, the following were elected as officers of the press corps: Runji Jamolo (Radyo Pilipinas) as president, Louine Hope Conserva (The Daily Guardian) as vice president, Glenda Sologastoa (Panay News) as secretary, Cindy Ferrer (The Philippine News Agency) as treasurer, and Arniel Lumbo (RGMA Super Radyo) as auditor.
The DENR 6 Press Corps Board of Directors is composed of Maricyn De Los Santos (The Daily Guardian), Nony Basco (ABS-CBN), Joecel Banias (Aksyon Radyo), Paul Bryan Amar (Bombo Radyo), Joel Franco (RMN), Rudje Mar Sucaldito (RGMA Super Radyo), Bing Pabiona (Radyo Pilipinas), Ime Sornito (Panay Balita), and Carl Sardua (News Express).
“The media is our friend and this DENR 6 Press Corps will be a great advantage for us and for the media. They get the news they want and we get the publication of the news we want. It is a win-win situation for both of us,” said DENR regional director Jim O Sampulna. (With DENR Region 6/PN)
