BACOLOD City – Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) regional director Al Orolfo transferred to the central office.
Orolfo was relieved of his duties last week.
In Special Order No. 359 dated April 27, DENR secretary Regina Paz Lopez mandated Orolfo to report to the Office of the Undersecretary for Field Operations and Staff Bureaus.
Orolfo was replaced by Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Livino Duran.
A copy of the order was shared on the Facebook account of a local radio station.
Duran was once designated as officer-in-charge assistant regional director for management services of the DENR’s Western Visayas office.
In a radio interview, Lopez confirmed issuing the order.
Last week Lopez inspected mining sites in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental and Basay, Negros Oriental.
She expressed dismay over the impact of mining in southern Negros and pushed for an alternative livelihood for the locals./PN
