FASHION designer Ehrran Montoya recently revealed that the intricate golden beaded and caped gown worn by Emma Tiglao during her hosting stint at the MGI All Stars coronation night was originally intended for Gazini Ganados as her finale evening gown.
Ehrran first shared glimpses of the creation on May 30, posting photos and clips of Gazini wearing the intricately beaded ensemble during fittings while he and his team carefully brought the design to life.
The gown, adorned with elaborate golden details was envisioned as a tribute to Gazini’s Filipino and Palestinian roots.
“An ode to two homelands. Inspired by Filipino royalty and heritage, this Ehrran Montoya masterpiece honors not only the soul of the Philippines, but also the strength and pride of Gazini Ganados’ Palestinian roots,” he wrote.
But while many expected Gazini to wear the striking creation on the pageant stage, viewers instead saw Emma donning the gown as she hosted the event.
The unexpected appearance sparked questions online, with one netizen asking Ehrran in the comment section about why the gown had ended up with the Miss Grand International 2025 titleholder instead.
The designer candidly admitted that he was also uncertain about the change.
“I don’t know. I’m confused also hehe .. I love Emma, but the gown is exclusively designed for Gazini. Everything happens for a reason,” he replied to a netizen.
Gazini ultimately graced the stage in a different yet equally meaningful ensemble, a golden off shoulder with blue crystals creation by Rian Fernandez which also had a cultural significance as a tribute to the beauty queen’s dual heritage.
Although Ehrran’s original design did not make it to Gazini’s final pageant walk, the designer emphasized that creating the gown remained one of his most cherished experiences.
On June 1, he reflected on the journey behind the piece and the people who helped make it possible.
“Creating this custom look for our dearest Gazini Ganados (@gazinii) was truly one of the most meaningful experiences. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who helped bring this vision to life—from my amazing team, to the glam team, and to all those supporting Gazini on her journey to the crown,” he wrote.
“As Gazini competes, she carries with her not only her own dreams, but also the love and strength of her family in Gaza,” he added.
Despite the unexpected switch, Ehrran maintained a gracious and optimistic outlook as he thanked Emma for wearing the gown onstage and expressed support for Rian, whose creation ultimately accompanied Gazini during the competition.
“All love and light for @emmatiglao for wearing this on stage. Things might not go as planned but God always has better plans. Huge congratulations to my kapatid @rianfernandez888 for a job well done.”
