BACOLOD City – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office (CO) in Bacolod participated in the LegisHear: Bawat Batas Mahalaga event, which was spearheaded by the House of Representatives and held from October 2 to October 3, 2026 in Victorias City, Negros Occidental.

CO Head John Dan Elijah S. Fajardo, together with personnel, Denise Alexandre E. Domingo and Cealenor P. Bustillo, represented the office at the event.

On October 2, CO Bacolod conducted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on common issues encountered in passport applications, documentary requirements, and other consular concerns.

The participants were given the opportunity to raise questions and clarify various passport-related matters.

Interested applicants were subsequently provided application forms and assisted through passport pre-processing and documentary assessment.

CO Bacolod personnel also attended the LegisHear Town Hall at the Victorias City Coliseum, where proposed legislative measures, including the proposed Tubo Act, were discussed with stakeholders.

Passport pre-processing and consular assistance continued until October 3, and a total of fifty-two (52) clients were assisted.

The activity provided CO Bacolod an opportunity to bring consular information and services closer to the community, clarify documentary requirements, and identify deficiencies prior to formal passport application, thereby helping minimize incomplete applications and repeated visits to the Consular Office.

At the conclusion of the activity, the LegisHear awarded a Certificate of Appreciation to CO Bacolod. (DFA)
