ILOILO City – The National Police Commission (Napolcom) Region 6 is investigating the police chief of Ivisan, Capiz.
Did Senior Inspector Leomindo Tayopon illegally discharge his firearm outside the cockpit in Jamindan, Capiz around 7 p.m. on Dec. 3?
Napolcom ordered Tayopon to answer the allegation.
Tayopon denied indiscriminately firing his gun because he lost in a cock derby.
He said he merely fired a warning shot to pacify several persons who were in a scuffle outside the cockpit.
The police chief said he was passing by the area when he spotted the commotion.
He got out of his car, he said, then tried to stop the fracas.
The men ignored him, said Tayopon, so he fired a warning shot to get their attention.
