CAPIZ — The Roxas City government has formally reopened the newly redeveloped Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center (DRCC) on December 5, marking the completion of an extensive renovation of one of the city’s most prominent public facilities.
Originally inaugurated in 1992 during the tenure of the late Congressman Dinggoy Roxas, the civic center has been transformed into a modern, fully air-conditioned venue designed to meet the evolving needs of the community.
The reopening ceremony was attended by city officials and members of the Roxas family, including Paolo Roxas and Luis Roxas-Ojeda.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas said the project reflects the city government’s renewed commitment to improving public infrastructure and delivering better services to residents.
He expressed gratitude to the Uswag Ilonggo Party-list and its representative, Cong. Jojo Ang, for their support in the redevelopment of the facility, describing the project as a “shared achievement” that embodies the collective aspirations of Roxas City constituents.
Dadivas also acknowledged the Sangguniang Panlungsod, led by Vice Mayor Inday Teresa Almalbis, for its role in endorsing and supporting the initiative.
Aligned with the city’s “Bigger, Better, and Brighter Roxas City” development agenda, the refurbished DRCC now boasts upgraded amenities aimed at enhancing user experience.
The ground floor features an expanded lobby equipped with movable retractable bleachers, allowing flexible seating arrangements for up to 1,440 seated guests and more than 3,000 standing attendees. This configuration enables the venue to accommodate a wide range of events, including cultural performances, conventions, and sports competitions.
The second level houses VIP rooms, a central control room, a viewing balcony, and a snack bar, while the third level contains essential mechanical equipment to ensure smooth facility operations.
Among the key upgrades is a centralized air-conditioning system complemented by an Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), ensuring uninterrupted power supply during brownouts and guaranteeing comfort during events.
Mayor Dadivas highlighted the installation of a world-class lighting system capable of supporting various activities, from competitive sports and concerts to large-scale conventions and cultural showcases.
Prior to its renovation, the DRCC hosted several major events, including an outreach concert by the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra in January 2024. The mayor expressed optimism that the modernized facility will attract more national-level activities while providing residents with a more comfortable and versatile venue.
