BACOLOD City — Employees of Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) yesterday held a noise barrage after three directors, ordered banned from the premises, “forcibly entered” the water district building.

Directors Lawrence Villanueva, Lorendo Dilag and Marichi Ramos was supposed to meet regarding the case that Ramos filed against suspended General Manager Juliana Carbon, said Claudio Salmo, president of Baciwa Employees’ Union.

Leo Ervin Sedonio, lawyer of Ramos, and Levy Solito, driver of Villanueva, destroyed the padlock of Baciwa’s gate, prompting the water district workers to hold the noise barrage at about 3:30 p.m. as an act of protest, Salmo said.

Sedonio first entered the gate, followed by the three directors. They went straight to the boardroom but went back outside a few moments later.

Panay News tried to reach the three directors for comment, but none of them answered calls as of press time.

Mayor Monico Puentevella earlier ordered all Baciwa directors banned from the water district premises.

Puentevella invoked his being the appointing authority of the directors amid the power play at the water district that started when Carbon was suspended.

Police went to Baciwa to pacify the employees. The noise barrage ended at 5:30 p.m.

Senior Superintendent Pedrito Escarilla, city police officer-in-charge, said they will investigate the alleged “forcible entry” at Baciwa.
