ILOILO City – The city government’s Volunteer Management Cluster headed by the City Youth Development Division (CYDD) held a four-day training for disaster rescue volunteers.
The participants were 20 members of Tiger Shark Volunteer Group.
In partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, the training at the Diamond Jubilee Hall further honed the volunteers’ skills in disaster response.
They underwent the Standard First Aid and Basic Life Support Training Course that included basic first aid, bandaging, casualty rescue, and cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
The highlight of the activity was an examination that served as basis in giving professional responder identification card and one year insurance to the volunteers.
“We are looking forward to train more volunteers, and we will continuously plan for more capability-building activities for them,” said CYDD head Jayson Gregorio.
A group of 20 police auxiliaries also underwent the same training in August. Another batch is scheduled in November. (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
