BORACAY Island – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Aklan Provincial Office trained individuals comprising of island residents, displaced workers, and local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan with a baking workshop.

Panganiban facilitated the skills training on “Puto-Pao Making” with 41 participants at the Tindahan it Boracay on Friday, May 11.
This program hopes to recapacitate the participants to start a business by making and selling puto-pao.
A puto-pao – a cross between siopao and puto – is a type of steamed mini buns made out of rice and/or all-purpose flour filled with seasoned pork then topped with salted duck eggs or cheese.
Meanwhile, DTI Aklan Provincial Office trade industry development specialist Chriszela Ramos conducted an Entrepreneurship Seminar and Financial Literacy workshop under “Oplan Save Boracay,”100 trainees at the same venue on Tuesday, May 8.
Other trainings in the pipeline are: Trabaho Negosyo at Kabuhayan in
partnership with Department of Labor and Employment; Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay and Skills Training on Soap Making; Crafts Making and Fashion Accessories; and Financial Literacy, among others.
