THE DEPARTMENT of Energy (DOE) and the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) have procured 21,000 metric tons (MT) of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from the United States as part of government efforts to assure a stable and reliable fuel supply amid the Middle East crisis.

On Saturday, April 25, the Energy department said, “The incoming shipment, scheduled for delivery from May 20 to 31 and to be discharged in Batangas, will boost the country’s LPG inventory and strengthen supply buffers for households and businesses.”The DOE said it is working closely with government and industry stakeholders to ensure energy security, maintain supply stability, and protect the welfare of Filipinos who depend on LPG for their daily needs.

Consumers experienced another price rollback for LPG last week.

LPG supplier Solane reduced prices by P3.36 per kilogram, inclusive of value-added tax (VAT), effective April 21, 2026 at 6 a.m.

This was equivalent to a P33-reduction for every 11-kilogram LPG tank, according to the LPG Marketers Association (LPGMA).

The rollback was due to lower shipping and transport costs, LPGMA founder Arnel Ty earlier said. (GMA News)
