CAPIZ — The Department of Health–Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH WV-CHD), in partnership with the Capiz Provincial Health Office, the Provincial Department of Health Office, and the Local Government Unit of Dao, conducted a comprehensive Road Safety Awareness Campaign in Dao on May 15.
The initiative aimed to strengthen community awareness on road safety and promote responsible road use among motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.
The day’s activities began with the “BiyaHealthy Ride-Korida,” an early morning community ride that gathered motorcyclists, cyclists, government agencies, private partners, and other stakeholders in support of the road safety advocacy.
The activity highlighted the importance of safe commuting and encouraged collaboration among all road users in preventing accidents and promoting discipline on the road.
After the ride, participants attended a culminating program featuring a health talk led by Dennis A. Saneo, who emphasized key road safety practices such as wearing helmets, obeying traffic signals, and practicing defensive driving.
Saneo stressed that preventing road accidents requires collective responsibility and active participation from all sectors of the community.
The campaign also aimed to encourage participants to become advocates of road safety within their respective communities, reinforcing sustained awareness beyond the event.
