ILOILO City – The Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 recognized its partners and various stakeholders supportive of its programs, services and causes.
Panay News was one of the awardees. It was cited for its active support in the information and advocacy campaigns of DOH-6.
“All of our partners and their contributions must be valued. We must remember that our task at DOH is based on the meaningful inclusion of civil society in all processes and equitable multi-stakeholder partnerships,” said Dr. Paz Corales, DOH assistant regional director.
She reiterated DOH-6’s commitment – to ensure public well-being by protecting people against illnesses through preventive strategies and collaboration with local governments and non-government agencies.
“We need the assistance of various sectors to persuade our citizens to take action for their health. We envision a healthy citizenry,” Paz said.
The reality, however, is that “we need to address so many gaps, issues and concerns,” stressed Paz.
Thus DOH-6 is looking forward to sustain its partnership with all stakeholders, she said.
THE AWARDEES
Under the TB Prevention and Control Program, the awardees were the city government of Iloilo and Barotac Viejo District Jail.
The province of Capiz and the Iloilo City District Jail – Male Dormitory got the Manuel L. Quezon Regional Silver Award.
The Bronze Award went to the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Guimaras, Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Bacolod City, and Iloilo City District Jail.
The Manuel Quezon TB Aiders Award was handed over to registered nurses Stephanie Joy Belarga, Louie Lester Billones and Jethro Mirasol.
Western Visayas Medical Center was recognized as Manuel L. Quezon Best PMDT Treatment Center while the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital and San Jose Rural Health Unit bagged the Manuel L. Quezon Best PMDT Satellite Treatment Center.
The Roxas City Health Office and the San Carlos City Health Office were recognized as Manuel L. Quezon Most Outstanding PMDT Treatment Centers while registered nurse Dirk Adrian Alfaro was the Manuel L. Quezon Best PMDT Nurse.
In the Rabies Prevention and Control Program, the awardees were the Iloilo City Government, Guimaras provincial government, Boracay Island, and local government of Concepcion, Iloilo.
DOH also recognized other stakeholders under the following program and categories:
* Non-Communicable Diseases Prevention Program
* Tobacco Control Program
* Family Health and Nutrition Program
* Health Program Accreditation Cluster
* Philippine Promotion Program
* Health Promotion Officers, and
