BACOLOD City – To enjoy a safer MassKara Festival in October, get vaccinated or get booster shots against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 urged residents here.
Regional Director Adriano Suba-an said Bacolod City’s COVID-19 vaccination rate is now at 200.97 percent of the general population, and 153.67 percent of its senior citizens.
However, Suba-an pointed out that some of fully-vaccinated individuals in the city’s record may not be residents of the city, but rather from neighboring municipalities and cities who have elected to get the vaccine in Bacolod City instead as it offers better facilities and ease of access.
Suba-an further pointed out the importance of having the city’s residents to either get fully-vaccinated or get the booster as it would further improve confidence in opening the economy and more importantly avoid a possible post-MassKara COVID surge.
“Sa totoo lang meron pa ring namamatay talaga, as of now we have 885 deaths due to COVID-19 here in Bacolod City since the start of the pandemic, with more than 27,000 cases,” said Suba-an.
The director also lauded the city for having a number of fully-vaccinated individuals.
“I’m encouraging the residents [who remain unvaccinated] na mag-access ng vaccination in whatever place you can go where a vaccination campaign is being held,” Suba-an added. (PNA/PN)
