ILOILO City – Shabu and marijuana with a combined value of P160 million were seized from various antidrug operations of the police in Western Visayas from January to July this year, data from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) showed.
Also within that seven-month period, 3,444 wanted persons were arrested.
The volume of shabu recovered reached 23,000 grams; as for marijuana, six kilos.
On the fugitives arrested, 558 of those arrested were in the “top 10” in their respective areas.
In the campaign against loose firearms, 2,309 guns were recovered – 306 confiscated and 2,003 surrendered and/or deposited.
In the campaign against illegal gambling, 2,892 persons were arrested and P797,84 bet money were recovered.
“Our police personnel really work hard to make Region 6 peaceful,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis, PRO-6 spokesperson.
What about the internal cleansing at PRO-6?
“May mga reports reaching us about mga colleagues nga implicated sa illegal activities. We carefully validate these reports,” Solis said./PN
