ILOILO City – Beneficiaries from Western Visayas (WV) are very grateful for the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) COVID 19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP).
Recently, DOLE released P5.8 million financial assistance for 1,160 workers from Western Visayas who are beneficiaries of CAMP 3.
One of those who availed was Marilou V. BiƱas of Roxas City who temporarily lost her job when Roxas City was placed on Alert Level 3.
BiƱas said she is grateful to DOLE after the P5,000 financial assistance helped him buy the daily necessities of her family.
“The assistance helped me and my co-workers that also temporarily lost their job,” BiƱas said.
According to DOLE-6 regional director Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr. that the DOLE is struggling to assist the affected workers who have a major role to play in reviving the Philippine economy.
āWe expect that the CAMP 3 will touch the lives of thousands of workers affected by the pandemic and will help them survive these trying times,ā Rodriguez said.
According to Rodriguez most of the affected workers are from establishments that engaged in accommodation and food services which accounted for 42.84 percent of the beneficiaries.
Some are from transportation and storage, education, manufacturing, real estate, wholesale and retail, construction and repair of motor vehicles, and the motorcycles industry.
The third wave of financial assistance under the CAMP was provided to displaced or temporarily laid-off workers affected by retrenchment, permanent or temporary closure implemented by their employers as a mitigating measure to the effect of COVID 19 during the implementation of Alert Level 3 or higher in their area.
Due to the effect of the declaration of Alert Level 3 in the tourism industry in Boracay Island, the Province of Aklan recorded the most number of affected workers (739), followed by Capiz (164) and Iloilo (131).
The criteria for affected establishments to be qualified to avail financial assistance are as follows:
* Applicant must be a private establishment
* Has implemented permanent closure and retrenchment or temporary closure as mitigating measures due to COVID 19 pandemic during the declaration of Alert Level 3 or higher in their area
* Has reported the closure to the DOLE Establishment Reporting (ERS), https://reports.dole.gov.ph
The criteria for affected workers to avail or qualify for financial assistance are as follows:
* Applicant must be a worker/employee in a formal sector
* The applicant is permanently terminated because of retrenchment or permanent closure of establishments or temporarily closure or suspension of operations of the employerās business establishment
* The applicantās employment was affected during the implementation of Alert Level 3 in their area from January 2022 and onwards./PN
