ILOILO City – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DWPH) in Region 6 recently disclosed that the agency is already planning the construction of longer and wider esplanades in the city.
The DPWH said Ilonggos and tourists can soon enjoy the esplanades, which include Esplanade 4 connecting Iloilo Bridge on Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue and Jalandoni Bridge, and Esplanade 6 that will connect to Forbes Bridge along River Queen Hotel.
Engr. Jose Al Fruto, DPWH-6 officer-in-charge assistant regional director, said the agency has met with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for the review of the cadastral survey which was conducted in 2011.
The cadastral survey shows the “extent, value, and ownership of land, especially for taxation.”
The new esplanades are expected to attract more tourists, thus, increasing tourism arrivals in the city.
Business establishments around the area are also expected to rise soon./PN
