Syudad sang ILOILO – “Takeover by government is a knee-jerk reaction which I am not in favor.” Ini ang reaksyon ni Senador Franklin Drilon sa proposal nga indi na pag-i-renew ang franchise sang Panay Electric Company (PECO) kag mag-takeover ang gobyerno.
Sunu kay Drilon, nagaduda sia kon ini gid man ang solusyon.
“I have to hear a distribution company being run by government that’s one and if it is feasible or not. My information is under the EPIRA, talagang hindi na pupuwede yan. I don’t know if it’s the solution but I doubt it if it’s the solution,” pahayag pa niya.
Ang ginaduso ni Drilon amo nga pasabton ang PECO sa ila mga kakulangan sa serbisyo bilang public utility. Dapat bantayan man ang PECO agud magahatag sila sang mas maayo nga serbisyo.
“Monitor the performance of distribution utility so that they will provide better service. We will hold PECO liable because they are a public utility,” dugang pa ni Drilon.
Nagpasalig man ang Ilonggo senator nga pag-abot sang hearing sa Kongreso pasabton niya ang PECO sa ila mga kapaltahan. Paandam niya nga prebilihiyo lamang ang franchise gani sabton nila ang mga reklamo batok sa ila.
“Franchise is a privilege granted by the state and the government to a particular enterprise in order to provide public service that’s why it’s called a public utility that’s why they have a franchise. So we will ask PECO to respond to all these complaints and what they will do in order to merit the renewal of their franchise,” pasalig pa sang Ilonggo senator.
Nahibaluan nga may mga grupo nga nagaduso sang pagbasura sang franchise renewal sang PECO kag ginaduso nga i-takeover sang gobyerno ang operation sini./PB
