ILOILO City – A truck fell into a 10-foot deep roadside ditch in Barangay Maribong, Lambunao, Iloilo, killing the driver and injuring two others.
Raymund Tejada of Cabatuan, Iloilo was likely sleepy while driving his truck transporting scrap materials to Roxas City, said Senior Inspector Dennis Pamonag, Lambunao police chief.
The accident happened around 2 a.m. Tejada’s two injured companions were taken to the Western Visayas Medical Center in this city. They were Ignacio Flores, 26, of Barangay Duran, Dumalag, Capiz and Richard Supida of Barangay Gabio-an, Tapaz, Capiz.
It took seven hours for rescuers to pull Tejada’s body out of the driver’s seat. Getting in the way of the body’s retrieval were piles of scrap materials that spilled out of the fallen truck.
Tejada and his two companions had a drinking binge in the town of Pavia before leaving for Roxas City, initial police investigation showed./PN
