BACOLOD City – Don’t drink then cross the river. It’s fatal.
A 60-year-old man was found dead on the banks of Nahalin River in Barangay San Miguel, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
Ramonito Valdez Quillo, a resident of Hacienda Alegria, Barangay Haguimit, La Carlota City, was believed to be a drowning victim.
Quillo was last seen crossing the river after binge drinking with a friend on Oct. 13.
His body was found around 11 a.m. the following day.
Chief Inspector Roberto Indiape, deputy police chief of La Carlota City, said Quillo was likely drunk when he tried crossing the river.
There were no signs that he was murdered, Indiape said.
Quillo’s body was brought to a funeral parlor in La Carlota City./PN
