SAN JOSE, Antique – The conduct of drug test among employees in San Jose-based business establishments composed of 10 and above number of workers will soon be mandatory.

In a press conference, San Jose mayor Elmer Untaran said that the Sangguniang Bayan has considered crafting an ordinance highlighting drug test as one of the requirements in the renewal and application of mayor’s permit among commercial institutions.

“No drug testing, no issuance of Mayor’s permit,” Untaran said.

The move forms part of declaring an establishment as a drug-free workplace, Untaran explained, citing that the measure protects business owners, too.

Meanwhile, the personnel of the municipal government here also had their drug test in December 2019 which yielded to a negative result.

Untaran also reported that there was no drug apprehensions and buy-bust operations in the province’s capital from December 2019 to January of this year.

“If you have observed, the town of San Jose is peaceful especially during night time,” he said.(JBG/LML-PIA6 Antique)
