ILOILO – A man previously jailed for illegal drug charges was arrested anew in a buy-bust operation on Tuesday night, March 25, in Barangay Balabag, Pavia, Iloilo.

Alias “Redzon,” a 52-year-old resident of Barangay Desamparados, Jaro, Iloilo City, was found in possession of approximately 240 grams of the said illegal substance valued at approximately 1,632,000, around 6 p.m.

Police revealed that he had been under surveillance for nearly two months after reports from concerned citizens linking him to illegal drug activities.

The suspect, tagged as a high-value target, was previously arrested in a 2016 drug sting but was released in 2020 after being granted probation. Investigations also showed that he was actively distributing shabu in Pavia, Santa Barbara, and Iloilo City.

The suspect is now in the custody of the Pavia Municipal Police Station, facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Iloilo Police Provincial Office director Colonel Bayani Razalan commended the operatives for their swift action and urged continued community support in the fight against illegal drugs./PN
