MANILA – About P154 million worth of relief assistance has been provided to families affected by typhoon “Nina”, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Its emergency response consists of food and non-food items such as food packs, ready-to-eat meals, blankets, mosquito nets, and comfort kits.
The tropical storm that entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Dec. 23 affected a total of 1,874,445 individuals in the Regions of Calabarzon, Mimaropa, V, and VIII.
A little less than 50,000 families were also displaced by its severity.
A DSWD report showed that typhoon “Nina” totally damaged 66,871 houses. A total of 178,067 houses, on the other hand, were partially damaged.
The National Response Cluster has also been deactivated into Agency-Level Response.
Sec. Judy Taguiwalo said they are working to assist affected families living in remote areas.
