MANILA – Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson hopes that President Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte will become “multi-dimensional” in 2017.
Lacson urged Duterte to get rid of his “old habits” and develop character traits of an effective leader.
He also suggested the long-time mayor of Davao City to search on Google “how to become a real statesman.”
“The bottom line for me is, I want him to succeed because like him and most Filipinos, I also love my country,” the former Philippine National Police chief said.
“There may not be a better gift that my and the president’s generation can bequeath to the new generation than a proud Filipino nation worthy of respect from all the other countries in the world.”
The President, according to him, should emulate Singapore’s quality of governance sans dictatorial rule.
While the government’s war on drugs is being addressed “with more than enough vigor,” Lacson said that Duterte should be the “driving force behind the scene.”
The senator also strongly feels that the chief executive has made a difference in the fight against corruption.
“Once corruption is eradicated, many great things can happen to our country as a matter of course,” he concluded./PN
