GUIMARAS – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Guimaras, through its Negosyo Center, conducted a two-day Capacity Building on Enterprise Development Training for salt producers in this province on October 9 to 10.
Held at the OMA San Lorenzo, Cabano, San Lorenzo town, the training focused on crafting the Business Model Canvas (BMC).
It was organized in response to the request of the Department of Agriculture–Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA–BFAR) Region 6 under its Market Assistance and Enterprise Development (MAED) component.
Aimed at strengthening the entrepreneurial capabilities of the M. Chavez Salt Producers Association, the activity equipped participants with essential knowledge and practical tools on business modeling and strategic planning using the BMC framework. The sessions guided members in analyzing the nine core components of their enterprise — value propositions, customer segments, channels, customer relationships, key resources, key activities, key partnerships, revenue streams, and cost structure.
Through this approach, participants were able to visualize their existing business operations, identify potential gaps and opportunities, and develop actionable strategies toward business growth and sustainability.
The collaboration between DTI–Guimaras and DA–BFAR Region 6 highlights both agencies’ shared commitment to empower local producers, enhance enterprise competitiveness, and foster inclusive economic development in the province./PN
