BACOLOD City — The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region (DSWD-NIR) has deployed a water treatment unit and water tanker to Davao Oriental to assist families affected by the powerful magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck the province on October 10.
The DSWD-NIR’s Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD) facilitated the deployment from La Carlota City on October 12, as part of its humanitarian mission to provide clean and safe drinking water to earthquake-hit communities.
The operation was carried out in coordination with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and City Health Office (CHO) of La Carlota, the DSWD Quick Response Team – Pantawid, and volunteer drivers from DSWD Field Office VI, who extended their support to ensure the swift delivery of aid.
According to DSWD-NIR, the initiative underscores the agency’s commitment to deliver immediate assistance and essential services to disaster-affected families and communities.
