BACOLOD City – An electric bicycle (e-bike) driver was shot dead in Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City on Sunday, September 20, with police launching a hot pursuit operation against the suspect.
The victim, identified by the alias “Rene,” was shot at around 3:30 p.m. in Purok Saturn, Phase 6B, according to the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
Police said the 40-year old victim, a resident of the barangay, was rushed to a hospital for immediate medical treatment but was declared dead by the attending physician at around 5:25 p.m. of the same day.
The suspect, identified by the alias “Reymark,” who also resides in Barangay Handumanan, reportedly fled after the incident.
Officers of the Police Station 10, led by officer-in-charge Captain Lelanie Lagoting, immediately responded to the scene after receiving a report from a concerned citizen.
As of press time, police were still conducting follow-up investigation to establish the motive behind the attack. Hot pursuit operation remained underway to locate and apprehend the suspect./PN
