BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) will maximize all of its police personnel and augmentation forces to fight crimes.
Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, who is now the officer-in-charge of the BCPO, said this during a press conference on Friday.
Currently, there are 680 BCPO police personnel augmented by some 311 personnel from the Regional Public Safety Battalion 6.
The new BCPO head said his men will coordinate with the community so that they can easily respond during crimes.
Ebreo, who also conducted a command conference with all 10 police station heads on Tuesday, said “police presence must be felt” in the city.
Ebreo assumed the top position in the BCPO after Superintendent Roderick Minong was directed by the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag to focus on his assignment in the Regional Public Safety Battalion 6.
The PRO-6 order was issued after New People’s Army rebels attacked police officers in Maasin, Iloilo on Nov. 25.
For his part, Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the city government wants to protect Bacolod’s image as a “business-friendly city.”
“We have to create a sense of security for our constituents to feel that our police are working and Bacolod is secure,” Leonardia added. (PNA/PN)
