ROXAS City – Various “green” economic development activities have been conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Capiz provincial office to protect the environment while enhancing business sustainability and competitiveness.
These included the conduct of 1st Capiz Green Enterprise Awards during the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Week celebration last July and display of green products like solar panels as well as LED lights of various brands at the recently concluded 2016 Product Standards Expo.
DTI provincial director Ermelinda Pollentes also conducted an orientation about the Promotion of Green Economic Development Project (ProGED) to local media men as part of the Consumer Welfare Month activities.
ProGED aims to ensure that MSMEs work in a manner that is environment friendly.
“This is DTI’s response to climate change and competitiveness,” Pollentes said.
DTI employees also planted mangrove propagules on Oct. 28 at the Palina Eco Park in Barangay Cagay, here in view of the green economic development advocacy and compliance to Executive Order 26 that requires employees of government agencies to participate in a tree planting program. (PIA-Capiz/PN)
