Electrical safety inspection at Bacolod markets urged

BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod has urged for an electrical safety inspection at the city’s three public markets to prevent fire accidents.

In a resolution authored by Councilor Bartolome Orola, the City Administrator’s Office and the City Engineering Office were tasked to inspect and upgrade electrical connections in Burgos, Central and Libertad markets.

“This is to ensure the Manapla public market fire incident that caused millions of damage won’t happen again,” Orola said. “There is a need for all frayed wirings and electrical fixtures to be changed and repaired.”

He added that the upgrade of electrical wirings at the markets will further help prevent future fire accidents.

The councilor said raising the level of public awareness against destructive fire is important, especially for vendors whose sole source of income is their market stalls./PN
