BACOLOD City – A 43-year-old resident of Escalante City was arrested for the crimes of rape and sexual assault on Wednesday evening.
Joint elements of the Escalante City police and 1st Maneuver Company of the Regional Public Safety Battalion-18 served an arrest warrant to Rolando Canoy Tiguelo, a resident of Sitio Mucabog, Barangay Washington.
Tiguelo was accused of incestuous rape, sexual assault and violation of Section 5, Article III of RA 7610 or an Act providing for stronger deterrence and special protection against child abuse, exploitation and discrimination, and for other purposes.
The arrest warrant was issued by Judge Amy Alabado Avellano of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 58 in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, dated April 19, 2017.
The police refused to identify the victim of the rape.
The court recommended a bail bond of P200,000 for his temporary liberty.
As of this writing, it was unclear if the suspect was able to post bail./PN
