ILOILO City – A former officer-in-charge of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Region 6 was charged administratively for grave neglect of duty before the National Police Commission (Napolcom).
Superintendent Christopher Acop failed to present his government-issued firearm during an inspection of a Napolcom team conducting an audit last year.
A police non-commissioned officer (PNCO) was filed the same administrative complaint, too – Police Officer 3 Bonifacio Gepiala of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
Acop failed to present his gun during the July 26, 2016 inspection, said Napolcom-6 spokesperson Allen Camering.
Gepiala, on the other hand, was absent during the Napolcom inspection on Aug. 24, 2016.
According to Camering, Napolcom-6 gave the two police officers enough time to present their guns – until Sept. 21, 2016 – but they failed.
“During our inspection, Acop said he left his gun in his house,” said Camering.
Summary hearings on the two police officers were ongoing.
Napolcom-6 recently conducted its 2017 audit and inspection of the PRO-6. It included, among others, checking the cops’ service firearms and uniforms, police office supplies and equipment./PN
