Ex-Oton MENRO employee arrested in buy-bust

ILOILO – A former employee of the municipal government of Oton, Iloilo was arrested in Barangay Poblacion West, Oton in a buy-bust operation of the police.

William Legislador, 43, was taken to the Oton police station on Nov. 16. He used to be connected with the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Oton.

The buy-bust was carried out at 7:05 p.m. An undercover officer of the Police Regional Office 6’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit bought from Legislador a sachet of shabu for P1,200.

According to Police Major Gervinson Moyo, Legislador was in their list of drug suspects.

“We have been monitoring him. He only dealt with persons he knew,” said Moyo.

The suspect was dismissed from the MENRO a few years ago, he added.

Legislador denied selling shabu. He also claimed the police “planted” the sachets supposedly recovered from him.

The suspect further said he was only a user, not a pusher, and that his supplier was based in Iloilo City.

He, however, declined to name the supplier.

Moyo said the supplier is based in Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao, Iloilo City, citing intelligence information.

Legislador faces a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
