Ex-PBA player falls in Btac. Nuevo drug op

ILOILO City – A former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) player  was arrested in an antidrug operation in Barangay Tabucan, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo.

The 55-year-old Harmon Codiñera was caught after he allegedly sold shabu to an undercover police officer for P700 around 7:40 a.m. on Saturday.

When frisked, Codiñera – a resident of Tabucan – yielded seven more sachets of shabu valued at around P20,000, police said.

Codiñera works as a sports utility worker in Barotac Nuevo. He is a former player of Purefoods in the PBA league and brother of another PBA player Jerry Codiñera.

He admitted to cops that he is using illegal drugs, adding that he gets his source from Bacolod City.

Codiñera was detained in the lockup facility of the Barotac Nuevo police station.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against him./PN
