MANILA – Former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. turned himself in to authorities on Monday night following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Sandiganbayan for a case over his alleged involvement in a P92.8 million ghost flood control project.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Revilla arrived at the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame accompanied by his wife and children.
Upon his arrival, personnel from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) were called in to implement the court order.
“Upon his arrival, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) was immediately summoned to serve the warrant of arrest issued against him. The warrant was duly implemented, and the former senator was formally informed of the nature of his arrest and his constitutional rights,” the PNP said in a statement.
After his surrender, Revilla underwent standard booking and documentation procedures while under CIDG custody, including a mandatory medical examination, in line with established protocols.
The case stems from charges filed by the Office of the Ombudsman on January 16, accusing Revilla and several former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials of malversation and graft.
The complaint alleges that the accused received kickbacks from flood control projects in Pandi, Bulacan. The court has also issued a hold departure order against those named in the case.
Included among Revilla’s co-accused are DPWH Bulacan district engineers Brice Hernandez, Jaypee Mendoza, Arjay Domasig, and Emelita Juat, as well as DPWH personnel Juanito Mendoza and Christina Pineda. The questioned project was awarded to a contractor in March while Revilla was still serving as a senator.
State witness DPWH Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo, who is under the Department of Justice’s Witness Protection Program, earlier alleged that he delivered large sums of money to Revilla in connection with the projects.
Bernardo claimed he brought P125 million to Revilla’s residence in 2024 and that his staff later delivered another P250 million ahead of the 2025 elections to secure the endorsement or facilitation of flood control projects.
