MANILA – F2 Logistics Cargo Movers survived a tough stand by the Foton Tornadoes before escaping with a 25-22, 25-27, 25-21, 25-19 victory in the do-or-die quarterfinals of the 2019 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the San Juan Arena.

Lindsay Stalzer and Maria Jose Perez displayed their championship experience down the stretch to lift the Cargo Movers back to the semifinals, where they will face the winner of Generika-Ayala Lifesavers and PLDT Power Hitters series.

Stalzer, a two-time Most Valuable Player, unloaded 26 points, including the killer blows in the crucial stretch on Thursday night.

Perez chipped in 21 markers for last year’s runner-up Cargo Movers.

Local players also made contributions for the F2 Logistics with Victorinara Galang tallying 12 markers.

Alex Cabanos registered 26 excellent sets on top of 23 digs and three service aces and Dawn Macandili had 23 digs and nine excellent receptions

“This team has been battle-tested since college. They become more focused when coming from a loss and they know how to bounce back,” said Cargo Movers head coach Ramil de Jesus.

It was a blessing in disguise for the Cargo Movers that Spanish reinforcement Milagros Collar was out in the match and only Courtney Felinski, Jaja Santiago and Dindin Manabat were left to carry the cudgels for the Tornadoes.

Felinski finished with 20 points while Santiago and Manabat had 14 points apiece for the Tornadoes, whose campaign was marred with frustration, including a harrowing 11-game losing streak./PN
