IF THERE are fake news in the social media, there are also fake inauguration and groundbreaking of projects. Funny, but it’s happening in Antique.

For instance, just recently the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority turned over to San Jose mayor Elmer Untaran the completed San Jose Fish Port, identified and built by PFDA for use of fishermen and fishing vessels in Antique waters to sell their catch, instead of landing their catch somewhere else.

Take note, however, that a week before that, an earlier ceremony also happened at the same venue with another group leading the event, and people here did not call it a turning over. Was it an inauguration?

No, said some friends; it was a “terering over.” You know what that means? It sounds alien to us.

Here’s another: the P240-million road that Sen. Loren Legarda had initiated as Senate Finance Committee chairman in support of the provincial government’s tourism effort towards General Fullon rice terraces of San Remegio would breaking ground soon.

But wait, Mr. Wilson Geronimo, Senator Loren’s point man in Antique, got invited (with a program enclosed) to a groundbreaking ceremony of the same road and with the “Honorable” Exequiel Javier as one of the speakers, and this amused us!

Wagz, you need not be dismayed, because we think that it was a way of getting back at you because of commentaries that hit where it hurts most.

Yes, we are also amused at the reaction of Mr. Geronimo, a knowledgeable and well-known critic of the Javiers in politics since time immemorial.

This is not the first time that the efforts of the lady senator are “snatched” from her, according to her media man.

Anyway this is the best acknowledgement that they could not do it by themselves. And well, we think that this is the better praise for the lady senator, but you as Loren’s point man should not let it pass without letting the people of San Remegio town and Antiqueños know about the gimmickry you-know-who is capable of doing.

Condemn the deed, not the doer. (escalonajun3@gmail.com/PN)
