Farmer nabbed for guns, ammos

ILOILO City – A farmer was arrested yesterday in Barangay Pili, Ajuy, Iloilo for possessing unlicensed homemade firearms.

The 62-year-old Peping Caburobias was caught by the Ajuy police around 7:45 a.m. through a search warrant issued by Judge Oscar Billena of the Regional Trial Court – Branch 70 in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo.

Recovered inside the suspect’s house were a .22 pistol and a 12-gauge shotgun with ammunition.

“May mga blotter sa barangay nila na palagi nagpapaputok, so we applied a search warrant against po sa kanya (Caburobias),” said Police Lieutenant General Enrique Robles, chief of the Ajuy police station.

The suspect was detained at the Ajuy police station. He is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
