SAN JOSE, Antique – Ten barangays in the province that are recipients of potable water projects for this year were urged to rush the submission of required documents so that the projects can start in the first quarter of 2018.

Engineer Donee Ann Ruinata of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) provincial office said on Thursday that the 10 barangays are from Caluya, Laua-an and San Remigio towns.

They are the recipients of DILG’s Salintubig (Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig sa Lahat) program – which aims to help “waterless” villages by providing clean and accessible water – added Ruinata.

Barangay Sibulo in Caluya town has been granted P2 million for the project while barangays Atabay, Banbanan and Bawang in San Remigio town, P3 million each.

Barangays Carawisan I, Carawisan II and Insubuan, also in San Remigio, have been given P2 million for their respective water projects.

Meanwhile, a total of P29 million have been allocated to the water projects in Laua-an town, three receiving P9 million each and one, P2 million. The names of the villages were not immediately available.

According to Ruinata, the required documents include a copy of a municipal resolution and a memorandum of agreement signed between the town’s mayor and the DILG.

“The local government unit should also provide the lot for the water system or if not, the Deed of Donation from a private lot owner,” she added. (PNA/PN)
