KALIBO, Aklan – Police investigators are determined to solve the rape and killing of the 8-year-old girl in Libacao, Aklan as they will subject four “persons of interest” to a DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) test.
The Grade 3 pupil Chrisha Nobleza was found already in a decomposing state by her father Eriel and her relatives on Oct. 27 in Barangay Guadalupe, Libacao.
“The results of DNA test will give us solid basis for airtight charges to be filed against the perpetrators,” said Senior Inspector Mayulito Iremedio, Libacao police chief.
The Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory recommended subjecting the four “persons of interest” to the DNA test.
According to Iremedio, the identity of the “persons” will not be revealed pending results of the test.
But Iremedio said they were all residents of Libacao and have denied their involvement in the crime.
Earlier, the local government of Libacao offered a P100,000 reward for whoever can give information leading to the arrest of the suspect/s.
Iremedio said some have already coordinated with the local government and the police regarding Nobleza’s killing. They were all considered as “possible witnesses,” he added.
Nobleza went missing on Oct. 24 before she was found near a river three kilometers away from their house, police said.
Eriel told the police that Nobleza was on her way home that day to prepare lunch for her siblings.
Scene of the crime operatives have confirmed that the suspect/s in Nobleza’s killing also attempted to burn her body.
Nobleza was buried on Nov. 6. Her family has written a letter to President Rodrigo Duterte asking for help in finding justice in her death.
Moreover, the Aklan Police Provincial Office has formed a task force to look into Nobleza’s death.
They were still investigating. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
